Stability analysis of stem solidness, grain yield, and grain protein concentration in spring wheat

The wheat stem sawfly, Cephus cinctus Norton (Hymenoptera: Cephidae), is a major pest of (Triticum aestivum L.) in the northern Great Plains, where it constant threat Montana and resurging Alberta, Saskatchewan, North Dakota. Adoption solid-stemmed cultivars an important management tool for growers; however, inconsistent pith expression first noted with release ‘Rescue’ has been repeatedly observed modern such as ‘Lillian’ Canada. Given extensive hectares planted to during outbreak, identification that display stable solidness, grain yield, protein concentration across wide range environments sawfly infestations occur desirable. We assessed spring plant responses eight two hollow-stemmed genotypes grown diverse using multiple statistical models. Study sites included southern Alberta Montana, Most models agreed ‘Choteau’, ‘BW925’, ‘Mott’ consistently displayed high solidness concomitant yield. ‘Choteau’ ‘BW925’ also met or exceeded desired threshold 3.75/5 rating (averaged from lower four internodes) optimum resistance, whereas developed optimal at specific (early) phenological stage when resistance infestation critical. Exploring stability identified ideal would enhance germplasm development efforts, which exemplifies how this approach can facilitate selection, production, adoption regions prone attack.
